Snowy Winter Hiking Elopement in Telluride, Colorado
Hannah and Tanner flew all the way from Virginia to elope in mountains in Telluride, Colorado. Both avid hikers and lovers of the mountains. They had their hearts set on hiking into the San Juan Mountains to get married.
Prior to their wedding, we came up with three epic hikes that we could potentially do but little did we know a big snow storm roll through the day before their elopement.
If you know anything about Colorado, it’s that the weather can change minute to minute. We had to go with the backup plan to the backup plan to the backup plan but you wouldn’t have known that. We had been to Telluride in the fall and summer before. I remembered this little hike just outside of town and luckily it was already snow packed.
We met with Hannah + Tanner at their airbnb that morning for some getting ready photos and then headed into town to get the day started. We strapped on our spikes and started the snowy trek up the mountain.
We hiked about a mile and half up and arrived to an opening in the trees. A little winded but to the most spectacular, wintry, snowy, jagged mountain view. The piney trees were coated a powdery white snow. The sky is bluer than blue. The sun was shining. It was the perfect, day after a storm blue bird day.
Hannah and Tanner shared some of the sweetest vows, exchanged rings and then we adventured around for some photos in the snowy winter wonderland.
Afterwards, we headed back into town to warm up with some hot chocolate and to take in the town views. Headed back to their airbnb for a snack and a first dance. Then ended the day with one of our favorite views in Telluride.
Hannah and Tanner were one of the many couples last year who had to adjust their wedding plans because of COVID in 2020. Their day was nothing short of an epic adventure and couldn’t have turned out better.
